Papers of a saloon keeper of Cathlamet, Washington, containing account ledgers and daybook of the Caledonia Saloon, correspondence with suppliers, and records of the Horace Hallett estate.
Absolom Hallock papers
Papers of Absolom Hallock include mixed journals and account books; correspondence relating to business, personal matters, and the Portland Fire Department; and receipts. Hallock (1826-1892) was a mechanic, draftsman, civil engineer, and surveyor. He served on the Portland Common Council as chief of the Fire Department, and was the first postmaster of the Barnegat post office in Tillamook County, Oregon.

The diary describes Harden's journey to Oregon and his life in Oregon, while the letters include information about life in Oregon, developments in the war between Euro-American emigrants and Liksiyu (Cayuse) people, names of local legislators, and poetry by Harden.

Vernon Harpham was supervisor of the Deschutes National Forest (1915-1916) and of the Umpqua National Forest (1930-1945). Collection consists of typescript carbon copy correspondence, 1932, regarding personnel changes in the Umpqua National Forest; typescript carbon copy radio address transcripts, 1944-1945, regarding forest fires, grazing on national forests, and Umpqua forest activities; and a program for Harpham's retirement party, 1946.
