Pay records of the 2nd Oregon Volunteer Infantry regiment, including payrolls for companies and field staff, and individual soldiers' pay records. The 2nd Oregon Volunteer Infantry was raised during the Spanish-American War and served in the Philippines during that conflict and for the first four months of the subsequent Philippine-American War.

Other subjects depicted in the photographs include cable cars, the bark Coloma, Grace Methodist Episcopal Church, the Riverside Hotel, the Morrison Bridge, and other unflooded street scenes from Portland.
