Typescript photocopy of journal entries made by Alexander Ross from March 11, 1824, to April 22, 1824, during an expedition in the Pacific Northwest. Ross (1783-1856) was born in Scotland and became known as a pioneer and fur trader in Canada and the Pacific Northwest. He worked for the North West Company and Hudson's Bay Company.

Kirby Stewart Ross, also known as Kirby G. Ross, served in the U.S. Army in France and Germany during World War I, and was awarded a Silver Star. Collection includes two diaries regarding his military training in Oregon and his combat experiences in France; certificates from the French government for his military service; and correspondence regarding his awards.
Royal family papers
Papers of the Royal family of Oregon. Brothers Charles Royal (1798-1878) and William Royal (1796-1870) emigrated to Oregon in 1852 and 1853, respectively. William Royal was a Methodist minister who founded the Centenary Methodist Church (later Centenary-Wilbur Methodist Church) in East Portland; his sons Thomas Fletcher Royal (1821-1911) and James Henry Bascom Royal (1830-1910) were also Methodist ministers.
