Five volumes (typescript copies) of the diaries of Hayes Perkins, titled "Here And There." Entries from 1928 to 1936 (volume 5) detail Hayes's work at San Simeon. Also includes typescript memoir, "Hayes Perkins' last journeys: across the Sahara (1952) and around South America (1955)," plus biographical information.

Biographical note
Hayes Perkins was born in 1878 in Coos County, Oregon, and died in 1964 in Pacific Grove, Calif. He was a world traveler and noted gardener, and he established what is now Perkins Park in Pacific Grove. He worked as a laborer and caretaker at William Randolph Hearst's San Simeon estate, starting in 1928.
