Laighton family papers
Collection includes a right of way given by Sarah E. Laighton and J. H. Laighton of Seaside, Oregon, for a drainage ditch to be dug on their land; a typescript will of J. C. Kinney of Astoria, Oregon; and a typescript letter to William J. Laighton regarding the sinking of the British bark Lupatia off Tillamook Head in 1881.
Daniel H. Lownsdale papers
Papers relating to the land claim of Daniel Lownsdale (1803-1862) in Portland, Oregon, including indentures, agreements, court documents, and correspondence. Lownsdale came to Oregon in 1845, established a tannery in what would become Portland, and in 1849 purchased additional land from Francis Pettygrove, some of which would later become the South Park Blocks and the North Park Blocks.

Collection includes papers by and relating to Ryland Eugene McClung, Ryland Brown McClung, and other members of the McClung family. Materials include correspondence, title abstracts, church records, business materials, log books of car trips, maintenance and expenses, a scrapbook, and military, social, and educational memorabilia. Also included is correspondence from Charles Hoyt to James George during the Civil War, 1861-1863.

The ledger was probably produced by the firm Linden B. Bowman, Realtor, a commercial and industrial real estate business owned by Linden B. Bowman (1914-2004), later known as the Bowman Company.

Robert Valentine Short papers
Robert Valentine Short (1823-1908) was a pioneer of 1847. He was a member of the 1851 Constitutional Convention and in 1888 was elected to the Oregon Legislature from Clackamas County. He also studied surveying and was responsible for surveying the town of Portland in 1850. Collection includes diaries, correspondence, scrapbook, survey and field notes; and papers relating to donation land claims and property in Yamhill, Clackamas, and Multnomah counties.
