The collection consists of a 1963 ledger with handwritten and hand-drawn maps and information about properties in downtown Portland, Oregon, between W. Burnside Street, SW Jefferson Avenue, SW Front Avenue, and SW 11th Avenue. The title page shows a map of the full area represented in the ledger. Each subsequent page describes one block. Information presented in these entries includes the owner or owners of each lot; the assessed value in 1963; the amount of property tax for the 1962-1963 fiscal year; and notes about buildings' use, construction material, and date of construction.

Administrative History

The firm Linden B. Bowman, Realtor, was founded in 1963 by Linden B. Bowman (1914-2004) of Portland, Oregon. The company specialized in commercial and industrial real estate. Starting in the 1970s, it was known as the Bowman Company. It merged with Norris, Beggs & Simpson in 1984.
