Abstract

Charles Congleton was born in Kentucky and moved to Oregon in 1904. He worked as a forest ranger from 1907-1927 with the Paulina Ranger District. Collection includes diaries describing Congleton's work with the Forest Service; correspondence regarding fishing and the history of the Ochoco National Forest; certificates; and autobiographical materials.

Research materials by John H. Hall, who studied and wrote on the life of John Minto (1822-1915), an emigrant to Oregon in 1844. Materials include typed transcripts of Minto's autobiography and his other writings, notes on Minto, and typescripts of a paper that Hall wrote about Minto for a class at Reed College in 1964.
