Pen and ink portrait depicting Dr. Stephen S. Wise, facing left, with arms crossed. Wise was born in Budapest in 1874 and was among the foremost leaders of Zionism and Reform Judaism. He served as rabbi for the Temple Beth Israel in Portland, Oregon, from 1900 to 1906.
