Abstract

Handwritten and hand-drawn ledger describing properties in downtown Portland, Oregon, including owners, usage, building description, assessed value, and the amount of property tax for the 1962-1963 fiscal year. The ledger was probably produced by the firm Linden B. Bowman, Realtor, a commercial and industrial real estate business owned by Linden B. Bowman (1914-2004), later known as the Bowman Company.

Levi Scott papers

Abstract

Correspondence and land papers of Levi Scott (1797-1890), and a letter by his son, John M. Scott (1827-1905). Levi Scott emigrated to Oregon in 1844, where he helped establish the Applegate Trail and served as a member of the Oregon territorial legislature and the Oregon constitutional convention.

Robert Valentine Short papers

Abstract

Robert Valentine Short (1823-1908) was a pioneer of 1847. He was a member of the 1851 Constitutional Convention and in 1888 was elected to the Oregon Legislature from Clackamas County. He also studied surveying and was responsible for surveying the town of Portland in 1850. Collection includes diaries, correspondence, scrapbook, survey and field notes; and papers relating to donation land claims and property in Yamhill, Clackamas, and Multnomah counties.

Abstract

Certificate made out to Joseph Simon (1851-1935) for 160 acres of land in Washington County, Oregon, and a receipt that said certificate was received by the recorder of conveyances of Washington County. Joseph Simon was an Oregon attorney and politician who served as a United States senator from 1898 to 1903.
