George M. Weister photograph album of Pacific Coast logging and lumber views
Album containing 47 black and white photographs by George M. Weister of logging and sawmill operations from tree to board at Big Creek Logging Co. in Knappa, Oregon, and Crossett Western Lumber Co. in Wauna, Oregon. The photographs include forest scenes; logging, loggers, and camps; transportation of logs by train and river; and mills, the milling process, and lumber.
Chris Wheeler photographs collection
This collection contains photographs and slides likely received and compiled by Chris L. Wheeler (1927-2013) during the time he served as state engineer of Oregon from 1962-1975. The bulk of the photographs depict the Tumalo Irrigation Project in Deschutes County, Oregon, from 1913-1915. Other photographs, color slides, and albums depict state and private irrigation efforts in Oregon from approximately 1910-1925, and dams and reservoirs in Oregon from 1950-1967.
Willamette Valley photographic collection
Five albums of black and white photographs depicting scenes from Salem and the Willamette Valley, including livestock, apples, cherries, fruit orchards, farming practices, migrant farm workers, and hop yards. Also included are images of the Salem mounted police, parades, the state Capitol and members of the Salem Trade Board.
Yosemite
Typescript and photograph album titled "Yosemite," created by Dorsey B. Smith and dated Portland, May 10, 1901. Contains a detailed account of the author's trip from Portland, Oregon, to the Yosemite Valley and the Sequoia areas in California. Smith (born 1872) moved to Oregon as the secretary to the president of the Oregon Railway and Navigation Company. He later owned a travel company and was the proprietor of the Cloud Cap Inn near Mount Hood.
