Ralph J. Voss photographic collection on the construction of the First National Bank of Oregon building

Abstract

Color slides depicting the construction and opening ceremony for the First National Bank of Oregon building at 1300 SE 5th Ave. in Portland, Oregon. The building is now the Wells Fargo Center. Ralph J. Voss (1910-2002) was president of the bank and oversaw the project to construct its headquarters. The building was reported by the Oregonian newspaper to be the tallest in the state at the time of its construction.

William Wadhams (1831-1905) was a pioneer grocer and founder of the Calvary Presbyterian Church, Sellwood Presbyterian Church, and the Portland YMCA. Collection includes correspondence regarding Reverend W. H. Landon and his move to Portland to become pastor of the Calvary Presbyterian Church, William Wadhams' business, Wadhams and Kerr Brothers, and church work.
