Collection includes a right of way given by Sarah E. Laighton and J. H. Laighton of Seaside, Oregon, for a drainage ditch to be dug on their land; a typescript will of J. C. Kinney of Astoria, Oregon; and a typescript letter to William J. Laighton regarding the sinking of the British bark Lupatia off Tillamook Head in 1881.

Samuel Christopher Lancaster (1864-1941) was a highway engineer and builder of the famed Columbia River Highway. Collection includes a typescript biography, "Samuel Christopher Lancaster: Master of Arts in Public Places," by SuAnn M. Reddick, circa 1980-1990; National Register of Historic Places inventory of Zion National Park, for which Lancaster was a consulting engineer, circa 1930-1968; newspaper clippings, circa 1940-1990; and miscellaneous research on Lancaster.

Land Program Recreational Project, Columbia Gorge

Report with appendices, discussing the feasibility and desirability of preserving areas of the Columbia River Gorge for recreational purposes. The report was produced by the Pacific Northwest Regional Planning Commission's Columbia Gorge Committee, chaired by John Yeon (1910-1994). The committee would release another report about conservation of the Gorge, "Columbia River Gorge Conservation and Development," in 1937.

Papers relating to Laura Jenkins Landers (1908-2009) and Susie Jenkins Stokes (1915-2003) and their families. The sisters were born in Sicily Island, Louisiana, and were among the Black workers who moved to the Portland, Oregon, area in the 1940s. They worked in the shipyards during World War II, and as domestic workers after the war.
