Biographical note
John William Meldrum, 1839-1919, was born in Burlington, Iowa. He came to Oregon with his parents in 1845, served as deputy U. S. surveyor in 1865, married Georgia Pope in 1872, and settled in Clackamas County, where he served as county surveyor and judge.
