Scope and Contents
The collection consists of a souvenir photograph book for the Portland Air Base, as well as the envelope used to mail this copy of the book. The souvenir book contains photographs of the base's officers, facilities, and activities. The envelope shows that Private First Class John Adams of the 16th Transport Squadron mailed the book to Dora Barnes of Portland, Oregon, in May 1942.

Administrative History
In 1941, the U.S. Army Air Corps established facilities adjacent to the airfield that would become Portland International Airport. During World War II, the base was referred to as the Portland Air Base or as the Portland Army Air Base. As of 2019, the base is named Portland Air National Guard Base.
