The Cornett Diary: Frank Davis Cornett and Viola Idella Powell in Early Oregon
Scope and Contents
The collection consists of a typescript copy of diary and ledger entries by Frank D. Cornett and his wife, Viola I. Cornett, transcribed and annotated by Kathleen LaMear, with appendices. Most diary entries are from 1889 through 1891, with additional entries from 1893 and from 1939 to 1940. The entries describe the Cornetts' agricultural and social activities. Ledger entries are from 1889 and from 1894 to 1896. In addition to footnote annotations, the collection includes an index; genealogical information about the Cornetts and other people mentioned in the diary entries; and copies of census entries, newspaper articles, and photographs.

Biographical Note
Frank Davis Cornett (1860-1944) and his wife, Viola Idella Cornett (1863-1913), were residents of the Willamette Valley in Oregon. Frank D. Cornett served as a representative for Linn County in the Oregon State Legislature in 1905 and 1907.
