The Cornett Diary: Frank Davis Cornett and Viola Idella Powell in Early Oregon
Typescript copy of diary and ledger entries by Frank D. Cornett (1860-1944) and his wife, Viola I. Cornett (1863-1913), with annotations and appendices, compiled by Kathleen LaMear. The Cornetts lived in the Willamette Valley in Oregon, and Frank D. Cornett served twice in the Oregon State Legislature.

Collection consists of scrapbooks, 1865-1885, with recipes, notes, personal records, clippings and ephemera regarding business, political and social events, and Frank A. Hill, merchant of Dayton, Oregon, and other Pacific Northwest locations.

Correspondence exchanged by Ira Benjamin Whitcomb and his fianceĢe, Alice L. Pierce, in the early 1880s. Topics include Whitcomb's journey to Oregon, as well as family, friends, and the teaching profession. Also included is a brief notebook and diary kept by Whitcomb, which includes some entries on his trip west.
