The bulk of the collection consists of a typescript copy of William R. Stephens' 1930 autobiography, 30 pages, written when he was 90. Other materials include an application for membership in the Grand Army of the Republic, circa 1892; a deed to Jacob B. and Lucy M. Kuhns, March 14, 1893, conveying property in Washington County, Oregon; a manuscript letter to an unidentified newspaper editor, written from Los Angeles, California, 3 pages, June 22, 1924, and describing a trip; and correspondence concerning Stephens' pension, Civil War record, and headstone.
