Includes biographical information and correspondence, 1916-1976, concerning Mary Jane Carr's works, the Disney film "Westward ho the wagons," and the gift of the manuscript of "Young Mac of Fort Vancouver" to the Kerlan collection at the University of Minnesota. Also includes manuscripts, typescripts, and clippings of poems, stories, scripts, and songs.

Biographical note
Children's writer Mary Jane Carr was born in Portland, Oregon, and educated at Lincoln High School and St. Mary's College (later Marylhurst University). She was the editor of the children's page in the Oregonian newspaper and the author of many books, including "Children of the covered wagon" and "Young Mac of Fort Vancouver."
