Scope and Contents

Collection includes papers related to Emil Franzetti and Susette Franzetti, nee Kopp. Many of the materials are letters of reference, including manuscript letters, 1898-1906, for Susette Kopp in English, French, and German; and manuscript and typescript letters for Emil Franzetti, 1901-1908, in English and French. Collection also includes the Franzettis' marriage certificate from New York, New York, dated 1905, and Emil Franzetti's death certificate, 1916. Other materials in the collection relate to members of the Kopp family. These are in German and consist of an 1845 confirmation certificate for Susanna Kopp, born in 1828; an 1896 reissue of an 1879 birth certificate for another person also named Susanna Kopp; an 1859 manuscript personalia for Jacob Kopp; and an invitation to his memorial service, 1906, on which his name is spelled Jakob.

Biographical note

Emil Franzetti (1881-1916) was a European-trained chef and the proprietor of the Rhododendron Inn and Tavern at the base of Mount Hood for a number of years, before dying in an automobile accident in 1916. Susette Kopp Franzetti was a waitress at hotels in Germany, France, Switzerland, and the United States.

Abstract

Emil Franzetti (1881-1916) was a European-trained chef and the proprietor of the Rhododendron Inn and Tavern at the base of Mount Hood. Susette Kopp Franzetti was a waitress at hotels in Germany, France, Switzerland, and the United States. Collection consists primarily of manuscript and typescript letters of reference for the Franzettis in English, French, and German. Collection also includes the Franzettis' marriage certificate from New York, New York, dated 1905, and Emil Franzetti's death certificate, 1916. A small number of documents relate to members of the Kopp family.
