Biographical note

Carl Allen Schram (1892-1957) was born in Oregon City and served as assistant mill manager of Powell River Pulp & Paper Co., Ltd. in Canada before forming the Parker-Schram Company, construction contractors, with Charles Parker in 1920. The partnership lasted until Schram's death. Among the company's best-known projects were the Lake Washington pontoon bridge and the water-level highway from Portland to The Dalles.

Abstract

Carl Allen Schram (1892-1957) was born in Oregon City and formed the Parker-Schram Company, construction contractors, with Charles Parker in 1920. Among the company's best-known projects were the Lake Washington pontoon bridge and the water-level highway from Portland to The Dalles. Collection includes correspondence regarding Schram's activities in and contributions to Waverley Country Club and other organizations, as well as to Republican politicians. Also included is correspondence regarding the Parker-Schram Company's financial concerns and construction projects.
