Manuscript copy of a letter from George Henry Atkinson to the editor of the Oregonian, circa 1866-1889, regarding his trip to the summit of Mount Hood on September 4, 1866. Atkinson was a missionary, educator, scientist, and publicist.

A number of the images are of or relate to people identified as George W. Pardey and Ina Pardey. The collection also includes two class photographs, 1914 and 1916, from the Christian Brothers Business College in Portland, Oregon, and images depicting scenes in the area of Skagway, Alaska.
