Abstract

Eleven black and white photographs of the exterior of the Emil C. Jorgensen house at 1805 NW Glisan St. in Portland, Oregon. Jorgensen (1851-1923) came to Portland in 1872. He was the director in the planning of the Lewis and Clark Centennial Exposition in 1905, and he opened the Lenox Hotel in 1907.

Blueprints and original drawings of architectural plans, mostly for unidentified buildings, by the Portland, Oregon architect Justus F. Krumbein (1847-1907). These plans date from the period starting in the late 1870s when Krumbein worked independently. Krumbein notably helped design the Oregon State Capitol of 1876 with W. G. Gilbert.

Six loose prints primarily depict the exterior of the house from different vantages and in different seasons. Also included in the collection is a collage of five black and white photographs that was published in the Oregon Journal newspaper; these photographs show the exterior of the house and the music room, living room, library, and dining room.

Abstract

Collection consists of 1 drawing on 1 sheet of the Forestry Building for the 1905 Lewis and Clark Centennial Exposition in Portland, Oregon. The building was described as the world's largest log cabin or the Timber Temple. It was constructed of unhewn logs, the largest of which were 54 feet long and five feet wide, and inside were exhibits of wildlife dioramas and Oregon forest products.
