Joseph G. Gale biography
Manuscript biography of Joseph Goff Gale prepared by his daughter, Mrs. Page of Walla Walla, Washington, 1900. Gale was a pioneer, shipbuilder, trapper and active participant in the formation of the Oregon Provisional Government.
Reuben Gant papers
Collection consists of manuscript affidavits signed by William Savage, March 14, 1890, and William Goodrich, April 7, 1890, certifying that Reuben Gant drove the first wagon across the Cascades on the Barlow Road in 1846.
Newton D. Gilham papers
Photostat manuscript affidavit, circa 1852-1900, certifying that Newton D. Gilham; his wife, Marecy Gilham; and their children left Illinois and arrived in Portland, Oregon, in 1852. The family settled in the Mt. Tabor area of Portland, where Newton Gilham took out a donation land claim in the spring of 1853.
John H. Hall research materials on John Minto
Research materials by John H. Hall, who studied and wrote on the life of John Minto (1822-1915), an emigrant to Oregon in 1844. Materials include typed transcripts of Minto's autobiography and his other writings, notes on Minto, and typescripts of a paper that Hall wrote about Minto for a class at Reed College in 1964.

Diary of A. B. Harden (1814-1887), who emigrated to Oregon in 1847, and letters to his family. The diary describes Harden's journey to Oregon and his life in Oregon, while the letters include information about life in Oregon, developments in the war between Euro-American emigrants and Liksiyu (Cayuse) people, names of local legislators, and poetry by Harden.

Henry E. Hayes diary
Original and typescript of Henry E. Hayes' diary, which covers his time gold mining near Nevada City, California, his coming to Oregon in 1851, and his activities making shingles in Clackamas County. Hayes (1831-1919), who was born in Hartford, Connecticut, eventually became a steamboat pilot, and had a farm at Stafford, Oregon.
Helm family letters
Collection primarily consists of correspondence of and relating to the Helm family, Oregon pioneers, as well as a handwritten family record of births and marriages; incomplete original and typescript copies of an Oregon Pioneer Association questionnaire relating to William Helm and his family; and a typescript photocopy of a document titled "The Crossing of the Plains in 1845 & 46," written by Richard Watson Helm.
