Joseph K. Carson Jr. speech on the tuna industry
Typescript speech or report by Joseph K. Carson, Jr., circa 1954, on the history of the domestic tuna industry, with recommendations for action by the federal government. Carson (1891-1956) was mayor of Portland, Oregon, 1933-1941, an attorney, and an unsuccessful candidate for governor of Oregon.

Stephen James Chadwick speech
Typescript copy of a speech delivered by Stephen James Chadwick at the annual meeting of the Oregon Historical Society, October 25, 1930, containing reminiscences of his childhood in Roseburg, Oregon, his friendship with Jesse Applegate, and other topics. Chadwick (1863-1931) was born in Roseburg and later was a lawyer, judge, and state Supreme Court justice in Washington. He was the son of Stephen Fowler Chadwick, who served as Oregon secretary of state and Oregon governor.

The papers include correspondence; truck operating cost estimates, particularly for logging truck costs in Oregon and California; and speeches, including radio broadcasts of the Office of Defense Transportation.
John Buel Dimick papers
John Buel Dimick (1840-1903) was a member of the Company B Volunteer Cavalry and later the Oregon Infantry during the Civil War, and a state senator from Marion County from 1887 to 1890. Collection includes correspondence with his wife, Almira Dimick, during his time in the military; business correspondence; political correspondence and speeches; and correspondence with various family members.
Lucia S. Fear papers
Papers and family photographs of Lucia S. Fear (1862-1957). Fear was born in 1862 in Kansas, and worked as a lawyer there in the early 1880s. She and her family later moved to Portland, Oregon, where she participated in the Mazamas climb of Mt. Hood in 1894 and was a member of the Portland Woman's Club.
