Letters and enclosed materials submitted to the Oregonian newspaper of Portland, Oregon, for potential inclusion in a special Oregon Trail Section, including family histories and genealogies. The Oregonian included the special section in its March 14, 1993, edition to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Oregon Trail.

Also includes poetry; related papers; a travel diary of Parrish's daughter Rachel Marinda Parrish Knox; transcriptions of diaries; and biographical information written by James M. Knox, a descendant of Parrish.
Plutarch Stewart Knight collection
Small collection of papers relating to Reverend P. S. Knight, who emigrated to the Northwest in 1853. Papers include meeting minutes related to Knight's ordination and relationship with the First Congregational Church in Oregon City, as well as an address he delivered before the Oregon Pioneer Association in 1898.
George R. Riddle papers
Collection includes articles of incorporation for the George W. Riddle Wood & Lumber Company, Riddle, Oregon, 1899; correspondence, 1948-1949, regarding the formation of Josephine County Historical Society, county historical markers and pioneers; and notes and articles on Oregon pioneer life, Josephine County history, Grants Pass and Indians.
Robertson family papers
Papers of a family of pioneers of Polk County, Oregon. Most of the materials are letters from family members in Illinois, New Jersey, Missouri, and Oregon. Many of the letters were sent to Amanda Robertson, Mary Ann Robertson and James P. Robertson, including many from E. R. Metcalf of Jacksonville, Illinois; from Libbie Teeple, of Pluckemin, New Jersey; and from members of the Riggs family.
Royal family papers
Papers of the Royal family of Oregon. Brothers Charles Royal (1798-1878) and William Royal (1796-1870) emigrated to Oregon in 1852 and 1853, respectively. William Royal was a Methodist minister who founded the Centenary Methodist Church (later Centenary-Wilbur Methodist Church) in East Portland; his sons Thomas Fletcher Royal (1821-1911) and James Henry Bascom Royal (1830-1910) were also Methodist ministers.
