Collection includes notes, correspondence and drafts of biographical articles for the Oregonian newspaper on Inese Ramis, a Russian immigrant from a displaced persons camp in Germany, and A. R. Van Twiller, a deliveryman for Meier and Frank Company in Portland, Oregon.

Laurence Gordon Smyth (1902-1960) was a reporter and political editor for the Oregon Journal for 38 years. He also served as assistant for public information to Douglas McKay during McKay's tenure as Secretary of the Interior. Correspondence is primarily to Smyth's wife, Marie Mongrain Smyth, regarding his activities while traveling on Oregon Journal business, working for McKay in Washington, D.C., and personal matters.

Oral history interview with Charles A. Sprague conducted by Robert Bruce on July 18, 1962, for the Living History Series, broadcast on radio. Sprague was editor and publisher of the Oregon Statesman newspaper and served as governor of Oregon from 1939 to 1943.

Thomas S. Stimmel was a staff writer and Oregon Legislature correspondent for the Oregon Journal newspaper. Collection includes scrapbooks with calendars of notes on legislative proceedings and clippings of Stimmel's articles reporting on the legislative sessions of 1973, 1975, 1977, and 1981.

Materials collected and created by journalist Jon Tuttle (1941-1991) relating to the Rajneesh in Oregon. Materials include newspaper clippings and issues, magazines, court documents, press releases, and correspondence. Tuttle worked for KGW news in Portland, Oregon, from 1966 to 1989, and won the 1984 Peabody Award for an eight-part documentary on the Rajneesh, titled "Rajneesh Update."

James S. Tyler (1865-1941) was a reporter and editor for various newspapers on the west coast, including the Oregon Journal in Portland. Collection consists of typescript reminiscences regarding his career.

Robert Charles Washburn (died 1938) was a journalist and Washington politician, later a resident of Portland, Oregon. Collection includes political and personal correspondence; speeches and poetry; and family memorabilia and clippings.

Fred M. White (1893-1981) was a journalist, editor, drama critic and writer. He joined the staff of the Oregonian newspaper in 1917, retiring in 1959. Collection includes correspondence from White to Mary Inman during his time in World War I; radio scripts, 1935-1940, based on Oregon history; World War I souvenirs; scrapbooks, recipe books, account books, etc.; and diplomas and schoolwork of Mary Inman.

The Portland chapter of Women in Communications, Inc. was chartered June 24, 1947, as the Portland Professional Chapter of Theta Sigma Phi, a society for women in journalism and communications, and later became the Portland Professional Chapter of Women in Communications, Inc. Records include correspondence, memoranda, minutes, reports, newsletters, miscellaneous administrative records, brochures, financial documents, newsletters, budgets, and surveys.
