Homer T. Shaver joined his family business, Shaver Company, in 1921. He helped organize a towboat firm, Shaver Forward Company, to haul grain to Portland from the Upper Columbia River. In 1967, he became president of Shaver Transportation. Papers include a typescript copy of an address to the 41st meeting of the Veteran Steamboatmen of the West, July 31, 1966, regarding Portland streets named after river vessel operators.
