List of forts and military posts in the United States and adjacent territory
Mimeograph list of forts and military posts compiled by Edgar M. Ledyard of Salt Lake City, Utah. The list is in alphabetical order by the name of the fort or post, and includes the location of each. Also included is a separate five-page document, which provides additions and includes notes about the history, name, or location of some of the forts.
Ernest Haycox papers
Ernest Haycox (1899-1950) was a novelist and short story writer born in Portland, Oregon. Collection includes correspondence, 1930-1964, mostly to Arthur B. Epperson, regarding publishing, personal matters, and a proposed series of articles on Haycox and other Oregon western writers. Also included is a typescript list by Jill Marie Haycox, wife of Ernest Haycox, circa 1964, of his writing record.
Honorary Sir Knights and Dames of the Royal Rosarians, 1920-2011
Collection consists of a document listing people who have been named as honorary knights and dames by the Royal Rosarians, an organization in Portland, Oregon, whose members serve as ambassadors and boosters of the city and of the annual Portland Rose Festival. The document lists the honorees' names, their city or town of residence, the variety of rose they selected, and the Rosarians' leader, or prime minister, for each year.
Thomas Monteith papers
Papers of Thomas Monteith include manuscript accounts of materials sold to the U.S. during the Indian Wars, 1856; appointments as officer in the Oregon Militia, 1863-1864; and manuscript list of persons accompanying Captain Scott to California in 1847. Brothers Thomas Monteith, Walter Monteith, and John Monteith founded the city of Albany in 1848.
List of Oregon pioneers
Typescript carbon copy of a list of Oregon pioneers compiled by L. H. Baker for the Oregon Historical Society. In many cases, the records indicate the means by which people arrived in Oregon Territory. They also include birthdates and date of arrival in Oregon Territory.
David C. H. Rothschild papers
Papers include photocopy manuscript agreements between David C. H. Rothschild and Captain George H. Werks, 1876, for a grain shipment, and Henry A. Webster, 1879, for rations; photocopy manuscript bond between Rothschild and Webster, 1880; photocopy manuscript list of vessels with names of captains and destinations.
Jesse G. Sill papers
Jesse G. Sill was born in 1881 in Illinois and died in 1981 in Portland, Oregon. He was a pioneer newsreel photographer and the first to take aerial photographs of Mt. Hood. Collection includes correspondence, 1911-1919; script synopses and lists of films, 1915-1948; a travel diary, 1915-1916; and a movie poster for the film "Lone Trapper," circa 1911-1948.
Waverley Country Club centennial time capsule records
Records relating to a time capsule made by members of the Waverley Country Club of Portland, Oregon, including a report, remarks, event program, and list of the capsule's contents. The capsule was buried on April 26, 1997, as the final of a year-long series of events celebrating the club's 100th anniversary.
