Albert M. Southwick was a native of Salem, Oregon, and served with the Oregon Volunteer Infantry 2nd Regiment in the Spanish-American War. Collection includes correspondence with family, 1898-1907, regarding army life and conditions in Manila, Philippines; rosters and booklets describing the Oregon Volunteer Infantry, 1898; and newspaper clippings regarding the Spanish-American War, 1898-1899.

Max Oberdorfer was the founding manager. Collection includes correspondence, 1925-1928, between Oberdorfer and the Hawleys regarding plans to build a new paper mill in St. Helens, Oregon.
