Novelty ship's logbook

Abstract

Logbook, November 24, 1896-March 6, 1898, of the schooner Novelty during voyages from Coos Bay, Oregon, along the Pacific Coast to San Francisco, California. The Novelty was built in 1886 for the Simpson Lumber Co. It went aground on September 20, 1907, and this logbook was salvaged from the wreck.

Abstract

Collection consists of Elizabeth Reed Brent's reminiscences of her childhood in Picard, California, now called Dorris, from the late 1890s to 1906. Brent's family moved from Iowa to Keno, Oregon, in 1891, and she was born in Keno in 1895. From there, the family moved to Picard and later to Chico, California.
