Oral history interview with sisters Leah Hing and Ruth Chinn, conducted by Jane Leung Larson in two sessions, on April 9 and April 26, 1999. Hing and Chinn discuss their family background and early life on a hop farm in Tualatin, Oregon. Hing also talks about playing in a band whose members were all Chinese American women, and about learning to fly with pilot Tex Rankin in Portland during the 1930s.

Photographs taken by Frank C. Hirahara of Patti Throop, a Portland Rose Festival princess who became Miss Oregon in 1953 and was a semi-finalist in the Miss America contest of 1954. Hirahara was an amateur photographer who lived in Portland, Oregon, from 1948 to 1954 and was a member of the Photographic Society of America, the Portland Photographic Society, and the Oregon Camera Club.

Papers and memorabilia of the Hirsch family and related families, including scrapbooks and photographs. Max S. Hirsch (1871-1959) was a Jewish German immigrant to the United States. He founded the Hirsch-Weis Manufacturing Company in Portland, Oregon. His son Harold S. Hirsch (1907-1990) founded the White Stag brand of skiwear, and renamed the Hirsch-Weis Manufacturing Company as White Stag Manufacturing Company.
