Administrative history
The Improved Order of Red Men is a fraternal organization founded in Baltimore, Maryland in 1834. It is an offshoot of the Sons of Liberty, who participated in the Boston Tea Party dressed as Native Americans. They dress as Native Americans, are organized into tribes and observe rituals. The ladies' auxiliary is the Degree of Pocahontas.
