Administrative history
La Creole Academic Institute was incorporated by the legislature on January 28, 1856, as a university. Later, it became known as Dallas College after it merged with Lafayette Seminary in 1900. Dallas College closed in 1914. The property once home to the university was transferred to the town of Dallas, in Polk County.
