Dentler of Oregon State University, and John H. Mitchell, 1894-1910, regarding Benton Killin's work in agriculture in Oregon and Alaska. Also included are speeches, circa 1900-1901; manuscript notes on Kodiak, Alaska, partially in Russian; medical diary of Dr. Frank B. Kistner, 1 volume, 1902; marriage and other certificates, 1873-1906; and miscellaneous ephemera.

Biographical note

John Killin (of Pennsylvania, born 1793) and Frances Ulan (of Ohio, born 1815) married in 1834. They came to Oregon in 1845 with a son, Benton (1842-1905). Benton served in the United States Army from 1862 to 1865. Later, he was a lawyer in the Logan and Shattuck Firm. He was a trustee of Pacific University in Forest Grove and the president of the Oregon Pioneers.
