Historical Note
The PayLess Golf Classic (sometimes called the Pay Less Golf Classic or the PayLess PGA Golf Classic) was an annual charity golf tournament held from 1969 to 1979, most often at an Oregon location, and sponsored by PayLess Drug Stores. The first tournament was held at the Shadow Hills Country Club near Eugene, Oregon. From 1977 to 1979, it was held at the Columbia-Edgewater and Riverside golf courses in Portland, Oregon. The 1977 and 1978 tournaments raised money for the American Cancer Society. From 1989 to 1994, PayLess Drug Stores once again sponsored a charity golf tournament. This later tournament was called the PayLess Celebrity Golf Classic, and benefited the United Cerebral Palsy Association of Northwest Oregon.
