Scope and Contents

Small collection consisting of a periodical and a letter related to the Oregon City Seminary in Oregon City, Oregon. The periodical is issue No. 2 of Magnolia, a publication produced by students at the school and edited by Mary Warren, according to information on its front page. The issue is dated February 15, 1867, and is handwritten and bound with ribbon; the collection also includes a typescript copy. The letter in the collection, also handwritten, is by S. D. Pope, a former principal of the school. The three-page letter, dated June 25, 1910, was sent from Victoria, British Columbia, and is addressed to "My dear Miss Barlow." In the letter, Pope thanks Barlow for inviting him to a 40th anniversary reunion of graduates, sends his regrets that he cannot attend due to poor health, and asks that she convey his congratulations and well wishes.
