Irving H. Fletcher papers
Scope and Contents
The Irving H. Fletcher papers provide insight into the history of labor, labor unions, and labor leaders in Oregon during the years 1949 to 2013. The papers are divided into four series: Series 1, Personal; Series 2, AFL-CIO; Series 3, Political; and Series 4, Photographs. The Personal series reflects Irving Fletcher's personal life through his correspondence, academic papers, assembled news clippings, and other reports and materials related to his interests, including mental health policy in Oregon. The AFL-CIO series relates to Fletcher's work with the Oregon AFL-CIO, for which he served as president. The series includes materials relating to a Labor Education and Research Center, the Farah boycott activities, and the Oregon Federation of Teachers union, as well as AFL-CIO conventions and working agreements with related organizations. Materials in the Political series include Fletcher's general correspondence with a number of political leaders throughout his life, as well as documents relating to Fletcher's own political campaign in Oregon. The fourth and final series, Photographs, consists of personal and AFL-CIO photographs assembled by Fletcher.
