Biographical note
Frank Alexander Stewart (born 1843) came to Oregon in 1854. He attended Belpassi Academy in Marion County, settled in Gold Beach in 1865, became a sheep farmer in 1877 and was a Republican representative from Curry County in the Oregon Legislature in 1893 and 1895. He married Hattie Riley in 1867, and later married her sister, Lara Riley, in 1872.

Abstract
Photocopies of original documents, consisting of love poems, political essays and speeches written by Frank A. Stewart; certificates; compositions by others; and records of the Ellensburg Mite Society. Stewart (born 1843) emigrated to Oregon with his family in 1854. He became a farmer and served in the state Legislature.
