Biographical note

Dr. Edna Sherrill Eames (1882-1971), nee Edna P. Sherrill, was Portland, Oregon's first woman medical inspector, and worked for the city health bureau in roles including school inspector, chief medical inspector for the contagious disease division, and assistant health officer. She was a lieutenant in the Medical Corps of the U.S. Army during World War I, and then returned to Portland and to her work with the health bureau. She married Albert C. Eames, and they had one daughter. The family moved to California, where Edna Sherrill Eames lived and worked for the remainder of her life.
