The collection contains a set of bound scrapbooks that include typescripts of John S. Burns's sermons, plus notes and related materials. Interspersed are clippings, programs, and other pieces of ephemera, usually related to the topic of the adjoining sermon.

Biographical note

Dr. John S. Burns came to Corvallis, Oregon, in August 1930 to serve as pastor of the First Presbyterian Church on Eighth and Monroe streets. He later became the pastor of the Federated Churches (Presbyterian-Congregational) in Corvallis, and at the First Presbyterian Church of Lebanon, Oregon. His sermons were presented on radio station KOAC in Corvallis.
