Scope and Contents

Collection includes a typescript copy, 28 pages, of a diary by Hermon Camp Leonard that is held in a collection of the papers of Henry Hunter Peters at the New York Public Library. The diary entries, from December 6, 1850-March 7, 1851, note arrivals and departures of ships in Astoria, and include poetry and Chinook terms. Also included is a photograph of an affidavit dated March 16, 1907, stating that Leonard exported Oregon products, particularly flour and lumber, in 1855.
