Moody, 1820-1950; and correspondence, diaries, etc., of Thomas and Mary Lang.

Biographical note

Zenas Ferry Moody was an Oregon merchant and governor, 1882-1887. He operated a business in The Dalles and surveyed the Umatilla Indian reservation. He married Mary Stephenson in 1853 and they had five children: Zenas A., Ralph E., Drusilla, and Malcolm A. Moody, who later served on The Dalles city council, 1885-1889, The Dalles mayor, 1884-1893, and as Oregon representative to U. S. Congress, 1899-1903.

Abstract

Papers of the Moody family include correspondence, financial records and other documents of Malcolm A. Moody and Zenas F. Moody, as well as miscellaneous family correspondence and records. Also included are correspondence, financial records, and genealogical material (including the Nesmith family) of Anne and Elizabeth Lang, employees of Malcolm A. Moody; and correspondence, diaries, and other materials of Thomas and Mary Lang. Zenas Ferry Moody was an Oregon merchant and governor, 1882-1887. One of his sons, Malcolm A. Moody, served on The Dalles city council, as Dalles mayor and as Oregon representative to U. S. Congress.
