Scope and Contents

Collection consists of seven engravings from the second volume of Jean-Baptiste Chappe d'Auteroche's "Voyage en Sibérie," published in Paris, France, in 1768, which included a translation of Stepan Petrovich Krasheninnikov's "Opisanie zemli Kamchatki" (Description of the land of Kamchatka), 1755. The engravings depict scenes of people, activities, and places in the Kamchatka area of Russia, on the Pacific Coast, and were made by Jean-Baptiste Tilliard from drawings by Jean-Baptiste Le Prince and Jean-Michel Moreau. The engravings are labeled as plates I, II, III, XIV, XV, and XVI; two different images are both labeled as XIV. Titles and captions are in French.
