Biographical note
Andrew J. Knott (1834-1900) and Levi Knott (1832-1887) came to Oregon in 1850 and 1851. They ran the Stark Street ferry starting in 1861. Andrew J. Knott represented Multnomah County in the state Legislature. He married Mary E. Tibbetts (1835-1919), and they had seven children. Levi Knott married Mary Savery.
