The collection consists of two abstracts of title concerning property in Bodley's Addition in East Portland (later southeast Portland). The abstracts were written by the Pacific Coast Abstract Company (later the Pacific Coast Abstract, Guaranty and Trust Company) for August F. and Marie Neunert and for their daughter, Emma Neunert Lang. The abstracts contain copies of legal documents such as deeds, land sales, and transfers in the period from 1858-1902. One abstract is entirely handwritten, and the other typed.

Historical Note

Bodley's Addition is a plot of land in southeast Portland, Oregon. As of 2019, it is bounded by SE Milwaukie Avenue, SE Clinton Street, SE 10th Avenue, and SE Brooklyn Street. The name is derived from Margeria G. Bodley (1852-1927) and Watson T. Bodley (1848-1936), who owned the property in the 1880s. In the 1890s, cigar manufacturer August F. Neunert (1837-1912) and his wife, Marie (1833-1901), owned property in the northern section of Bodley's Addition, which they later transferred to their daughter, Emma Neunert Lang (1869-1948).
