Scope and Contents

From the Collection:

The collection consists of papers compiled or produced by Charles Davis relating to the Library Association of Portland, Oregon, including an inventory by Davis that lists the contents of the collection. Materials primarily reflect the run-up to the association's dissolution and the transfer of assets to the Multnomah County Board of Commissioners in 1990, as well as records relating to the transfer itself. Records include correspondence, financial documents, minutes, membership records for the association, reports, and photocopies of historical incorporation documents and agreements. The collection also includes an essay about the Library Association of Portland's issues in the 1980s and 1990 written by Tom Stimmel, with related correspondence; a history of the association published for its centennial in 1964; and photographs of the transfer agreement signing on June 30, 1990.
