This collection of William Bittle Wells's papers primarily contains autobiographical materials, writings, and personal diaries. Included is a long account of Wells's work with the New York Life Insurance Company; a booklet titled "The world, the flesh, and the devil"; poems; letters; a portfolio of autobiographical materials; and publications produced by Wells. Also of note is a printed report of the Bureau of Community Publicity, 1911, which provides details on the operations of the bureau and its relations with various local booster groups throughout the northwestern United States. Related to the bureau is a long letter to Thomas Vaughan, 1957, analyzing the organization's work. Wells's personal diaries contain descriptions of his activities while a student in 1880s and 1890s.
