Laurence Gordon Smyth correspondence
Laurence Gordon Smyth (1902-1960) was a reporter and political editor for the Oregon Journal for 38 years. He also served as assistant for public information to Douglas McKay during McKay's tenure as Secretary of the Interior. Correspondence is primarily to Smyth's wife, Marie Mongrain Smyth, regarding his activities while traveling on Oregon Journal business, working for McKay in Washington, D.C., and personal matters.

Charles Arthur Sprague (1887-1969) was a newspaper editor and publisher, and served as governor of Oregon from 1939 to 1943. Collection includes correspondence, 1896-1968; documents relating to committees and commissions, 1949-1969, including Colleges for Oregon's Future, the Oregon Geographic Names Board, the Commission on the Rights, Liberties and Responsibilities of the American Indian, and the Oregon State Constitutional Revision Commission; and a last will and testament.

Thomas S. Stimmel was a staff writer and Oregon Legislature correspondent for the Oregon Journal newspaper. Collection includes scrapbooks with calendars of notes on legislative proceedings and clippings of Stimmel's articles reporting on the legislative sessions of 1973, 1975, 1977, and 1981.
