Also included are campaign materials; press releases; reports; materials regarding Oregon Senate committees, 1963-1965; materials relating to Victor Atiyeh's Oregon gubernatorial campaign, 1978; and speeches.

Abstract

Jay Bowerman (1876-1957) was a Republican attorney, Oregon state representative for Gilliam County, and acting governor of Oregon, 1910-1911. Papers include correspondence regarding his activities in support of Republican candidates, his law practice and family; correspondence and research notes for a proposed history of eastern Oregon bench and bar; newspaper clippings and political ephemera regarding campaigns; and a scrapbook regarding the 1909 Oregon Legislature.

Abstract

Jack Lynch (1896-1973) served as an Oregon state senator from 1943 to 1952. Collection includes correspondence, 1940-1973, regarding advice on campaign strategies to Douglas McKay and Bob Packwood; political speeches; legislative records regarding chiropractors, health professions, and small businesses; newspaper clippings and other papers regarding the "Fugitive Fathers Bill" and a bill prohibiting the sale of firecrackers, both of which were introduced by Lynch.

Abstract Jean Young (1904-1992) served on the the King City, Oregon, city council and as mayor of King City. She also was vice-chairwoman of the Multnomah County Republican Party Central Committee and was a delegate to eight Republic national conventions. She was appointed to the Oregon State Wage and Hour Commission in 1947.
