Abstract

Ralph Penniwell Cowgill (born 1880) served as an engineer for the Oregon State Game Commission, president of the Oregon Game Protective Association, and in the Oregon Legislature. Collection includes correspondence and reports, 1922-1935, regarding his work with those organizations, as well as the Oregon Reserve Corps and National Guard, with emphasis on fish husbandry and river pollution.

Oral history interview with Walter E. Ericksen, conducted by Clark Hansen on October 4, 1999, as part of the Columbia River Dissenters Oral History Series. Ericksen discusses his experiences as a cantaloupe farmer in The Dalles, Oregon; how fluoride air pollution from aluminum factories on the Columbia River affected his farm, people, and fish in the area; and his involvement in lawsuits against polluters.
